 The giant panda is plump and bears like, with a round head and short tail. Its head and body are 1200~1800mm long, and its tail is 100~120mm long. The black and white appearance is beneficial for hiding on trees in dense forests and snow covered ground, making it difficult for natural enemies to detect. Relatively sharp claws and well-developed and powerful front and rear limbs are beneficial for giant pandas to quickly climb tall trees.

The skin of giant pandas is thick, with the thickest part reaching up to 10mm. The skin thickness of different parts of the body also varies, with the back of the body thicker than the ventral side and the outer side thicker than the inner side. The average thickness of the skin is about 5mm, and it is white, elastic, and resilient. Their thick and rough fur can help them weather the harsh winter. They don't need to hibernate, even in the cold winter, they still forage in the snow.
