The National Conservation and Research Center for Giant Pandas was officially unveiled in Chengdu

On the morning of November 17th, the National Center for the Protection and Research of Giant Pandas was officially unveiled in Chengdu.
The National Center for the Protection and Research of the Giant Panda is a world-class platform for giant panda research cooperation and exchange, which integrates the resources of two research institutions, the China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center and the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, and gathers excellent national teams for giant panda research.The platform has established the Academic Committee for Giant Panda Protection and Research led by Wei Fuwen, an academician of the CAS Member, and the National Innovation Alliance for Giant Panda Protection, built a key laboratory for giant pandas under the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, and vigorously promoted the creation of a national key laboratory for the protection of giant pandas and other endangered animals.
The National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Sichuan Forestry and Grassland Administration, and Chengdu Municipal Government jointly invested the first phase of 110 million yuan to establish the Giant Panda Protection Research Fund, and simultaneously launched two major joint research projects: research on key technologies for protecting wild giant panda populations and habitats in national parks, and research on key technologies for protecting genetic diversity of captive giant panda populations. The National Forestry and Grass Administration provides strong support to the National Conservation and Research Center for Giant Pandas in terms of funding projects and policies. The Chengdu Municipal Government has formulated various support policies for scientific research infrastructure construction, talent incentives, and other aspects.
