Why Can Hong Kong Tourists See Fubao Free Of Charge?

In 2008, a severe Wenchuan earthquake occurred in Sichuan Province, and the Hong Kong government donated over 10 billion Hong Kong dollars for disaster relief. Private donations in Hong Kong reached 13 billion Hong Kong dollars. A survey shows that 95% of Hong Kong people have donated money to the Sichuan earthquake. In addition to donations, the Hong Kong government is also responsible for 190 post disaster reconstruction projects, covering education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social welfare, from road construction to school construction. In June of the same year, the Hong Kong Government expressed its intention to assist in the construction of Wolong. In October, the two sides officially signed a reconstruction cooperation agreement, with a total aid fund of 1.422 billion yuan. Hong Kong also sent 7 experts to participate in the assistance, which took 8 years. On May 12, 2016, the Shenshuping Base of the China Giant Panda Park officially opened. The park expressed gratitude for Hong Kong's help, and all Hong Kong residents can enter the park for free with their ID cards, which is permanently valid!

At present, Fubao lives in Wolong Shengshuping Panda Base in Sichuan and has been one of the most popluar pandas in the base. People who wants to visit this base need to reserve the ticket in advance. Hongkongers are free of charge to visit the park forever.
